Third Annual
Rockport
Fairy, Gnome & Mermaid Festival
A Celebration of Enchantment
Directions By Car – From North, South and West
Unless you are at sea, to drive to Rockport from any direction, simply drive to Route 128 and Take 128 North. You are going to drive to within a few feet of the northernmost endpoint of Rte. 128, in Gloucester. Photo A shows the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge (A. Piatt Andrew was a WWI hero and a Congressman) as you approach Gloucester on 128, and Picture B shows a view by the side of the highway. It is best to cross this bridge in the left lane, as that is the lane you will want to be in as you enter the upcoming rotary (or circle).
Just after crossing the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge, you arrive at the first of 2 rotaries – Grant Circle. Travel half-way around the circle, then take a right to continue on 128 North. This is still a divided highway. Travel 0.6 miles, until you arrive at the second rotary.
You are now at Blackburn Circle. Again, travel half-way around the circle, and again take a right, still following Rte 128. Now the highway narrows, and you will be in single-lane traffic.
Continue for another 0.7 miles to a set of lights at the intersection of Routes 128 and 127. Get in the left-hand lane, as you will be taking a left onto Rte 127 North to go to Rockport.
Now travel 3.1 miles on Rte 127 North, from Gloucester into Rockport, until you come to a 5-way intersection. Now bear right (not a sharp right) onto Rte 127A South, following the signs to Bearskin Neck. You are now on Broadway.
Drive straight down Broadway to the end (0.4 miles), where the little lighthouse is in the middle of the road Take a left, following the sign to Bearskin Neck.
Almost immediately you will come upon an island in the middle of the road, with a flagpole. This is Dock Square. Stay to the right of the island. Although you cannot see it in the photo, at the other end of the island is a right-hand turn. This is the entrance to Bearskin Neck.
Straight ahead of you is The Pewter Shop (a great store, by the way). If you have parked your car and are walking, take a left here onto Old Harbor Road. If you are still driving, go straight ahead. You are going to go around the block, because Old Harbor Road is a one-way street. About half-way down Bearskin Neck is a single intersection, located at Earth’s Treasures, another great store. Take a left here onto Doyle Cove Road.
There are 2 left-hand turns off of this small road. Drive past Middle Road to the second left. This will bring you onto North Road.
Drive straight down North Road. Straight ahead of you is a sign for Old Harbor Road. Seafencibles Park is to the right, but take a left. There is no space for parking here. You will have to park your car and make your way back to us on foot. If you have any special needs in this regard, please call us for special instructions. We can work out almost any problem. Please read the information below on Parking.
Parking:
You will need to park your car before coming back to the festival. There is practically no parking on Bearskin Neck. (Again, if you have any special needs in this regard, please call for special instructions. We can work out almost any problem.)
We highly recommend parking your car in the town lot (park for free) and riding the shuttle into town (minimal charge).
If you prefer to find your own parking, there are side-streets in the downtown area where you may find a place to park. Some have meters (ranging from a 2-hour to a 5-hour limit. Beware the dedicated parking meter people!) - others are free parking. Downtown Rockport is a small area. You will not get lost, nor will you have far to walk.
ATMs are scattered conveniently throughout the shopping area.
